Polydextrose is a synthetically derived polymer of glucose. It is a dietary fiber that is approved in most countries for use as a food ingredient.

Classified under the E number of E1200, is used to increase the dietary fiber content of food, replacing sugar, and reducing calorie contents.

Polydextrose is a versatile product, used in commercial beverages, cakes, candies, dessert mixes, breakfast cereals, gelatins, frozen desserts, puddings, and salad dressings.

It also exhibits certain prebiotic effects when consumed by living organisms.
