Calcium stearate is a carboxylate of calcium. It is a white waxy substance that is a common component of lubricants and surfactants.

Unlike sodium and potassium stearate is not soluble in water and has poor lathering properties. 

Calcium stearate is added to concrete to control the efflorescence properties of masonry and paving products.
